"The River King" is a little of both, I think. I don't want to sneak in any spoilers, because the suspense is wonderful. It's a complex story, with complex characters.

I couldn't put the book down. Each time I thought the story was winding down, the author would throw a surprise, and I'd get revved up again/5(). The River of Kings is engrossing, exciting, poetic, with surprising moments of tenderness, and crafted with a master hand.

The writing exhibits shades of Philipp Meyer, Richard Ford, Annie Proulx, and Anthony Doerr, but every book by Brown is all his own/5. I found the River King to be a haunting, beautiful and engaging story, and the snow covered landscape of New England to be a perfect backdrop for such a mystery driven film.

The photography was perfect,catching the beauty and solitude of the snow fields,and Nick Willing has stamped himself as a director to watch for in the future, his career. river king I most often scan a book by the amount of conversation that it has.

this book does not have a lot, but still moves right along. I really enjoyed it, and will read more of her stories. THE RIVER KING is a story that indulges in the romantic nature of every reader's soul and the neatly plotted storylines that make Hoffman's characters reflect so much of ourselves in them.
